How to write a welcome text for your wedding website

The welcome text is the first thing guests read. Here's the structure we recommend – with examples you can borrow.

Guests open the link for one reason: they want to know they're welcome, and what's expected of them. A good welcome text does both in under a minute.

1. Start with what matters most

Date, place and one sentence about why you're getting married. Save the long love story for a page of its own – whoever wants to read it will find it.

2. Speak to your guests directly

Write “you” – not “one”. If you have guests from several countries, write a short version in each language rather than a long one in just one.

AN EXAMPLE TO BORROW
“Welcome! On 14 June 2027 we're getting married on Grinda, and there's nothing we'd love more than to celebrate with you. Here you'll find everything about the day – please RSVP by 1 April.”

3. End with what guests should do

One clear call to action: RSVP, book accommodation or read about the dress code. One thing, not five.

Short checklist

  • Date and place in the first sentence
  • Written to “you”, not “one”
  • One version per language
  • One clear call to action at the end
